Project: Zentangled Initials Photograms

• Monday: Complete the Pre-Planning pages and turn them in for a grade as you complete them. Work on your Zentangled Initials Square so you can go to the darkroom.
• Tuesday - Friday: After you make all your photograms in the darkroom and mount them on construction paper, you will work on and complete your Post-Planning pages:

·      Answer your Essential question. ·      Reflect on new things you have learned.	·      Reflect on whether your final project was successful? Why? ·      How does your project relate to your pre-planning?	·      What is the culture of this class? ·      How does the culture of your class affect your project? ·      How does the project relate to the AOI?
Each page should be “Activated” Have a GRID design in the background ALL ANSWERS MUST BE IN LEGIBLE AND IN FULL SENTENCES

Upcoming Due Dates:

1. Pre-Planning Pages - due as you complete them.
2. Zentangled Initials Mounted Photograms - due by Tuesday, February 8th.
3. Post-Planning Pages - due by Tuesday, February 8th.

How to create Zentangled Initials (thumbnail directions)

Here are the directions for creating a zentangled initial. Use these to make your 10 thumbnails on the thumbnail handout. In the directions, where it says"make 4 dots on the paper," it is referring to each thumbnail box.

This is a copy of the thumbnail sheet passed in class. Use this handout to complete 10 zentangled initials. Make sure to complete the thumbnail using sparse and dense patterning. If you use sparse for the initials, then use dense in the background - vice versa.

January 24 - 28

• Monday: Introduce the Initials thumbnail process for the studio project.
• Tuesday: Work on Pre-planning pages and the Initial Thumbnails.
• Wednesday: Work on Pre-planning pages and the Initial Thumbnails.
• Thursday: Introduce the main project and begin working on the hand drawing for the studio project.
• Friday: Work on Pre-Planning pages and zentangled initials. Pre-planning pages due.

January 18-21

• Tuesday: Welcome back from a week of snow and ice. Your parent/Guardian form is due along with your 5 magazine images. Details below. Introduce Studio Project and new Journal Format. Work on Pre-Planning Journals. View Photograms and Darkroom Procedure Power Point. Photography terms will be handed out. These terms will be a part of your pre-planning pages.
• Wednesday: Work on pre-planning pages in class.
• Thursday: View Zentangling Initials Power Point in class and discuss how the initials drawings will be used in the darkroom. Begin the zentangled initials and continue to work on the pre-planning pages.
• Friday: Work on Pre-Planning pages and zentangled initials. Pre-planning pages due by Monday, January 24.

1. Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Form is due signed by Monday, January 10, now due on Wednesday, January 19th.
2. 5 photo images of design in your life. They can be from a magazine or downloaded from the Internet. Due Monday, January 10, now due on Wednesday, January 19th.

January 5-7

• Wednesday: We handed out the new Design syllabus. (The syllabus has been uploaded to the blog.) We set up our folder for this semester. The example is in my room.
• Thursday: We watched a video called "What is Design?". We discussed the difference between DENSE and SPARSE patterning. We are working on making 12 zentangled patterns - 6 dense and 6 sparse. Homework was assigned.
• Friday: Went over the steps to zentangling and worked on creating 12 carefully crafted zentangle patterns.

Homework for this week:

1. Parent/Guardian Acknowledgement Form is due signed by Monday, January 10
2. 5 photo images of design in your life. They can be from a magazine or downloaded from the Internet. Due Monday, January 10
3. If it snows and we are not at school on Monday, then the assignments are due on Tuesday, January 11.
