Last Project and Journal Due on Monday...

  • PATTERNED STILL LIFE is due on Monday. We will paint the point of EMPHASIS on Monday.
  • JOURNAL for the Patterned Still Life project is due on THE DAY OF YOUR FINAL.
    • 6th period is TUESDAY, May 24
    • 7th period is FRIDAY, May 27
    • 8th period is FRIDAY, May 27
  • JOURNAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Introductory Page with the Project/Lesson Name, definitions of Emphasis and Contour Line; and how our Project is Imitationalism. THIS IS THE ONLY PAGE THAT NEEDS TO BE ACTIVATED - use watercolor or tissue paper and compose it with either boxes, windows, or columns (your choice).
    • Still Life Collage from your point of view of the still life. (This was done in class and DOES NOT NEED TO BE ACTIVATED).
    • Thumbnails from your view of the still life. Glue them in - all of them. Write for each why or why not you choose this thumbnail. (THIS DOES NOT NEED TO BE ACTIVATED.)
WE WILL REVIEW FOR THE FINAL ON MONDAY, May 23rd.

Week of May 9 - 13

This is EOCT week, so class will be off a little.

We are working on our last STUDIO PROJECT: Patterned Still Life

What needs to be completed this week:

  1. Pre-Planning Introductory Page
  2. Make a Thumbnail of the still life you can make your final drawing from.
  3. Make a cut paper collage of the still life thumbnail in your journal.
Due this week, Post-Planning for the Contour Washes Project - Monday, May 9th.

Complete the 2nd layer of the Contour Washes Project.
Begin working on the Post-Planning for this project. You will need begin making the newspaper backgrounds and written statements for this assignment:

Technique
·         Studio Project Reflection Pages:
o   Write and respond to the Essential Question.
o   Reflect on what is observational drawing and how does your work show an understanding of true observational drawing
o   Explain how your final drawing has visual movement.
o   Explain how your pre-planning pages relate to your studio project.
o   Reflect on how successful you were on this studio project. Start the statement with “I like my project, because…”
·         Whole Project Reflection Page(s):
o   What new things did you learn through this project? Explain what you learned.
o   How does this project fit the AOI? Answer these questions:
§  Why do artists create?
§  What is the impact of artists on our culture?
o   Culture of this class: include comments by two other students made about your project. Reflect on whether these comments helped you make decisions about your project.
o   How can you use observational drawing in other areas of your life?
·         Each page must be creatively ‘ACTIVATED’ by collaging watercolor stained newspaper in either warm or cool colors.
·         All text for the pages must be creatively made using the opposite color scheme. For example, if you stain your newspaper cool, then your text must be in warm colors.
·         Compositional Layout: Columns
·         Organization and labeling of the required information
·         All written work MUST be readable.
