Studio Project: Aluminum Insect Sculpture

  • Monday: Work on Insect Sculptures. Begin adding legs, antennae. Introduce wings and materials.
  • Tuesday: Work on Insect Sculptures-Adding wings, legs, eyes, antennae, etc.
  • Wednesday: Last Day in class to work on Insect Sculptures-DUE Friday.
  • Thursday-Friday: Visual Verbal Journals

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING IN ALUMINUM CANS AND PLASTIC DRINK BOTTLES – ALL CLEANED, PLEASE!

Studio Project: Aluminum Insect Sculpture

  • Monday: Finish Journal Planning Pages and Sculpture Notes Page.  Cleaning up from clay. Ceramic Pinch Pots Due today.
  • Tuesday: Demo on building and armature; begin building insect armature.  Sculpture Notes Page and your Insect Sculpture Planning Pages are due.
  • Wednesday: Complete armatures and begin applying aluminum surface to insect sculptures. At least 5 aluminum cans due today.  Extra credit on journal: bring in extension cord. 
  • Thursday-Friday: Work on Insect sculptures.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING IN ALUMINUM CANS AND PLASTIC DRINK BOTTLES – ALL CLEANED, PLEASE! (These will be used on our next project.)

Studio Projects: Completing the Double Pinch Pot in greenware and beginning our Aluminum Insects

  • Monday: Work on the Double Pinch Pot Jar, adding textures and cleaning up the openings.
  • Tuesday: Last day to work on your Double Pinch Pot Jar in class. Ceramics Notes Page and your Jar Planning Page are due.
  • Wednesday: Introduce Sculpture Terms and make sculpture notes pages. Begin an aluminum metal techniques board per table. Introduce Insect Planning Page for the Aluminum sculpture page. 5 images of an insect are due. They must be from different points of view.
  • Thursday-Friday: Work on your Insect Planning Pages in your journal. This page is due on Monday, October 25.

Studio Projects: Double Pinch Pot Jar

  • Monday: No school!
  • Tuesday: Abstract Color Study is due. Begin working with clay. Use clay to create at least 5 different textures. Write about them in your journal. Learn how to set up and clean up clay projects.
  • Wednesday: Begin the Double pinch pot jar.
  • Thursday: Complete the double pinch pots and join them. Use a paddle to help shape the form. Make a planning page in your journal by gesturing your pinch pot constructions in your journal. Plan the handle.
  • Friday: Work the double pinch pot jar. Add the handle that you planned.

October 7th -- Introduction to Ceramics Power Point

Studio Projects: Completing the Abstract Color Study and beginning the Double Pinch Pot Jar
 
  • Monday & Tuesday: Work on Abstract Color Study
  • Wednesday: Last day to work on Abstract Color Study in class
  • Thursday: Unit 1 Test over the Elements of Art, Principles of Design, and Color; Introduce Ceramics Power Point and clay terms with a power point. Notes on the different states of clay.
  • Friday: Introduce gesture drawing. Homework (due on Tuesday, 10/12) 5 gesture drawings of lidded objects around your house like a peanut-butter jar or a cookie jar.
